  • Server and security logs (typically): IP address, date/time of access, pages requested, device/browser information, referrer URL, and error logs.

B) When you join our mailing list

  • Newsletter data: email address (and any optional fields you provide, e.g., name, preferences).

  • Signup metadata may also be recorded by the form/tool you use (e.g., time of signup; in some cases IP address for security and consent recordkeeping).

C) When you contact us (consultancy enquiries)

  • Contact form data: name, email address, and the content of your message (plus any other fields you choose to submit).

D) When you watch embedded video

  • If we embed YouTube videos, YouTube/Google may receive technical and usage information and may set cookies or similar technologies (see Section 6).

  • If we host videos as direct files on the Website, playback may still generate standard server logs and basic technical metrics.

E) If we add scheduling (e.g., Calendly)

  • If you book a call via a scheduling tool, we will process the information you submit (e.g., name, email, meeting time, and any notes).

3) Why we use your data (purposes)

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  • Operating, maintaining, and securing the Website (including troubleshooting and preventing abuse).

  • Responding to enquiries and communicating with you about consultancy requests.

  • Sending our mailing list emails (news about upcoming games, giveaways, playtests, and community/Discord invitations), where you have opted in.

Managing consent choices for cookies and embedded third-party content (where applicable).

4) Newsletter (Wix and/or Mailchimp)

We may collect newsletter signups via Wix forms and manage/sent newsletters using Wix and/or Mailchimp.

  • If we collect signups in Wix and later migrate to Mailchimp, we will transfer subscriber data (e.g., email address and any optional fields) from Wix to Mailchimp for mailing list management and sending.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.

5) Who we share data with (service providers)

We use service providers that process personal data on our behalf to run the Website and communications, in particular:

  • Wix (website platform, hosting, forms, and related services).

  • Mailchimp (Intuit) (newsletter management and email delivery, if used).

  • YouTube/Google (embedded video, if used).

  • Scheduling provider (e.g., Calendly) (only if/when we implement scheduling).

We do not sell personal data as a business model.

6) Cookies, embedded services, and similar technologies

Our Website may use cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential/necessary technologies to make the Website work (often set by Wix and core site features).

  • Preferences and consent technologies to remember your cookie choices.

  • Third-party embedded content (e.g., YouTube) which may set cookies or use similar technologies when loaded/played. Swiss cookie guidance explicitly treats embedded third-party services and other tracking methods (“similar technologies”) as part of the same compliance picture.

Your choices: Where required/appropriate, we provide a cookie banner/settings tool so you can accept, reject, or manage non-essential technologies.

7) International data transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside Switzerland (for example, depending on the providers used). If personal data is disclosed abroad, we take steps intended to ensure an appropriate level of protection (e.g., recognised contractual safeguards where required). Swiss law also expects transparency about cross-border disclosures.

8) Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

  • Server/security logs: typically kept for a limited period (often days to weeks) unless needed for security investigations.

  • Contact enquiries: typically kept up to 12 months after the last interaction, unless we enter into a business relationship or need longer retention for legal reasons.

Newsletter data: kept until you unsubscribe. We may keep a minimal record (e.g., your email on a suppression list) to ensure we respect your unsubscribe choice.

9) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including access controls and limiting who can access inboxes/lists. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10) Your rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • request access to your personal data,

  • request correction or deletion,

  • object to certain processing, and/or

  • withdraw consent (e.g., for newsletters or non-essential cookies) at any time.

To exercise your rights, email us at maaroof@macncheesegames.com.

You may also contact the Swiss data protection authority (FDPIC) if you believe your rights are being infringed.

11) Children

Our Website is not intended to collect personal data from children without appropriate permission. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us and we will address it.

12) Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time (for example, if we change providers such as moving fully to Mailchimp or adding a scheduling tool). The “Effective date” at the top shows when it was last updated.
